Summer 2021

Staff News

We are very pleased to welcome a few new members of staff to the Long Street Dental team.

Most of you will have met our new dentist Dr Katerina Kokori by now, who has settled in well and proved to be very popular amongst patients.

More recently we welcomed Nadine, who brings many years of experience from her previous practices and strives to provide the highest level of patient care.

You weren’t seeing double! That’s right, Charlotte’s twin Laura has left the world of hairdressing and has just started her Dental Nurse training at the practice.

Receptionist Tamsin has also returned back to the practice after welcoming daughter Arabella in July 2020.

Sadly, we also said goodbye to Sharon and Kim, both dental nurses, who have decided on a change in career path. We wish them both the best of luck and look forward to the next catch up.

COVID Restrictions Update July 2021

Throughout the pandemic, we have always tried to make Long Street Dental as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. We will continue to do so going forward.

From the 19th July, little will change at the practice – we ask that patients still wear a face covering (unless they are exempt from doing so) and socially distance whilst in the building.

Our staff will continue to wear the enhanced PPE that you have become used to. The number of patients allowed into the waiting areas will also continue to be restricted. We do understand that this can be frustrating occasionally but our priority remains the safety of everyone at all times. If you’ve yet to visit us and would like a full summary of what to expect you can find all the details on our website.

These changes are still with us for the foreseeable future, which means longer wait times for treatment appointments. If you know you cannot make an appointment please do let us know in advance so we can contact those on the waiting list. We are no longer accepting new patients and have closed our books for both NHS (children) and private patients, and will review this list once our wait times have reduced.

We have come so far in trying to minimise the impact of Covid and we are sure that you understand the need to keep the practice as safe as possible for all our patients and staff. One positive case of Covid could stop our entire workforce for 10 days; we’re sure you will agree, maintaining restrictions is a small price to pay so that we can continue to care for everyone and keep our doors open.

A huge thank you to you all for helping us to help you over this difficult 18 months. Finally, a massive well done to the entire team here at Long Street Dental, who have all been absolutely fantastic.

The Colgate Oral Care Recycling Programme

We are still collecting your used toothbrushes, electric toothbrush heads, toothpaste tubes, toothbrush packaging and recycling your waste as part of the Colgate Oral Care Recycling Programme. We are the only public drop-off point in Devizes and you can find the drop-off container in the corner of the Reception area. The items do not need to be exclusively made by Colgate, they will accept any brand of oral care waste.

Unfortunately, at this time we cannot accept any Interdental Brushes. We know this was extremely popular and will inform you all when TePe launch Phase II of this scheme.

Was Not Brought – Under 18 Missed Appointments

If you know you will not be able to attend an appointment then please give us as much notice as possible so we can cancel your appointment and offer your slot to another patient. You can call 01380 723691 or email info@longstreetdental.co.uk to change appointments.

If a child (aged 0 – 17 years) misses an appointment we are required to record as ‘Was Not Brought’ (WNB). We will telephone a parent or guardian within 24 hours and ask if there is a reason why the child was not brought and offer a new appointment. Multiple cancellations or repeated WNBs will be discussed with you by the treating clinician and you may lose your NHS place at the dental practice.
